Camillo is proud to announce the successful completion of La Storia — a project that embodies enduring craftsmanship, Italian heritage, and the vision of creating homes that will stand the test of time.

Located at 88 Pelham Street, Carlton, directly across from Piazza Italia in the heart of Lygon St, La Storia represents a deeply personal story for all involved — a collaboration between Camillo, m3 Design Group, and Marcocci Property Group, whose shared Italian roots and commitment to quality are woven through every stage of the project.

A Modern Palazzo for Carlton

Inspired by the grand Palazzos of Milan, a place that was kept in the family and passed down to future generations, La Storia was conceived as a building to be cherished for years to come. The intent was clear: to create 20 individual homes, not 20 apartments.

This direction informed every design and construction decision — from the use of robust materials like concrete and stone to the generous proportions and enduring detailing found throughout the six-storey structure.

The result is a residence and retail space that feels both timeless and distinctly contemporary — a modern interpretation of Italian tradition, reimagined for life in one of Melbourne’s most historic precincts.

Precision and Partnership

Camillo’s focus on craftsmanship and structural excellence was tested and proven in the execution of La Storia’s distinctive façade. The design called for 10-metre-wide, three-dimensional precast panels, installed without visible joints to form a single, monolithic expression. Achieving this vision required meticulous coordination and an uncompromising approach to detail — hallmarks of Camillo’s build philosophy.

This project also marked a unique partnership with Smeg, whose involvement extended far beyond the typical supplier relationship. From hosting exclusive purchaser events to gifting each apartment a Dolce & Gabbana kettle and toaster, Smeg brought an authentic sense of Italian lifestyle and hospitality to the experience — reinforcing the shared cultural narrative that defines La Storia.

A Legacy Built on Lygon

Over its two-year build, La Storia contributed to the growth of the Carlton community, supporting local trades, suppliers, and cafés along Lygon Street. The completed development now adds 20 three-bedroom homes, one penthouse, and two retail tenancies to the area — each built to reflect Camillo’s enduring values of precision, permanence, and pride in workmanship.
